There are so many reasons why Flavour of the Film came to be, but to boil it down, I started the business because I wanted to create a lifestyle that meant I could pour my passion into my work and still have a work-life balance that allowed me to travel when I wanted. I have been building this business with the purpose of maintaining a level of freedom whilst still pursuing my passions.<\/p>
I am multi-passionate and most of what I enjoy falls into the creative sphere in some way. By combining my main interests into one project, I was able to create Flavour of the Film: a business focused on creativity, food, baking, film, TV, travel and more. Each element works in harmony with the others and still remains relevant to the overall theme: celebrating film & TV through food.<\/p>
However, I always say you shouldn't trust a chef that doesn't eat their own food... well, I was exactly that kind of chef for a good few years of my baking career. For years, I was bullied in school for being overweight and this treatment was the catalyst to a 13 year long eating disorder. From the age of around 14, I started \"challenging\" myself to see how long I could go without eating every school day.<\/p>
I then went on what I referred to at the time as a \"health kick\", but what was actually a case of over-restriction and over-exercising that involved me doing hours of intense exercise, and severely restricting how much and what I ate - including my own bakes - all in aid of losing weight. I did this for years.<\/p>
I lost a lot of weight, sure, but I lost myself in the process. It took over a decade and a lot of hard work, commitment and self love, but I finally healed my tumultuous relationship with food. I now celebrate my curves and exercise to be strong and to feel good. My relationship with food has never been better.<\/p>
I love making food, as well as eating it guilt-free. Food is my love language. Fast forward a year later and I launched Flavour of the Film with a new sense of freedom and confidence in myself.<\/p>
I know what it's like to feel excluded and isolated because of how others view your body, so when I realised the considerable gap between kawaii style clothing and plus\/curve sizing, I knew it was something I wanted to ease through my business.<\/p>

After graduating from university, I moved to Japan. It was there that my love for all things kawaii flourished. I'm incredibly proud of my business, but even more so in this new venture within the Flavour of the Film world. My intention? Flavour of the Film's Origin Story<\/h2>

As part of growing a multi-passionate business, I wanted to address a gap that I and a lot of people I know have been stuck on one side of for some time. We should never be punished for having a bigger body than society deems suitable or \"healthy\", and that's exactly how clothes shopping can feel - like we're being punished - even when buying cosy wear.<\/p>
As what I describe as the \"kawaii wave\" continues to be embraced by the West, it has become increasingly clear that those of us who don't fit within the small-mid size range are not catered for nearly as much when it comes to clothing in this niche. That's where Flavour of the Film comes in with this side of the business!<\/p>
The shop sets out to:<\/p>
Make sustainable cosy products in the kawaii niche<\/p><\/li>
Cater to as many people using as wide a size range as possible regardless of gender (or non-gender)<\/p><\/li>
Create fun and cute products that make people happy and the planet happy<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
I never do anything half-heartedly and I will only sell products that I am proud of, so rest assured that everything on Flavour of the Film is a design or product that I am more than happy to buy, wear or use myself.<\/p>
Sustainability is a super important element of the Flavour of the Film shop which is why I work with Teemill's print-on-demand service. All products are made from sustainable materials like organic cotton and recycled materials; are made to order to reduce waste, and are made to last and then be recycled so you can send anything you've worn out back to be recycled again.<\/p>
The products are also all printed in a renewable energy powered factory in the U.K. and are packaged in eco-friendly, plastic free wrapping.<\/p>
